1991 – 2015

PORTLAND — Joseph H. Auclair, 24, of Auburn, passed away on Saturday, June 6, at Maine Medical Center, following a courageous battle with cystic fibrosis, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 21, 1991, and graduated from Edward Little High School in 2009. He was a part of the Maine car community. He was an avid car enthusiast, and especially loved Volkswagens.

Joseph was a huge fan of the Boston Bruins and loved the sport. He enjoyed going to the Old Port with friends. He loved to snowboard and would get out on the slopes every chance he could. One thing he taught us all was to never take life for granted.

His luminous personality and “live life to the fullest” attitude brightened every life he touched. He always had a smile on his face and he never showed that he was struggling, even when he was. He truly had an amazing group of friends who cared for him deeply.

He is survived by his parents, Philippa (Lagasse) Auclair and Stephen Auclair; his brother, Ben Lagasse and significant other, Alison Smith; his niece, Hailey Lagasse; maternal grandmother, Marie Lagasse; paternal grandfather, Henry Auclair; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Maine Medical Center and Chest Medicine Associates for the loving care they gave Joey while he was in the hospital. May his legacy live on in the hearts of others.
