1936 – 2015
WEST PARIS — Suzanne A. Waterhouse, 78, formerly of Somerset Apartments, passed away on Sunday, June 7, at Ledgeview Living Center, following a brief illness.
She was born in Mexico on Aug. 14, 1936, a daughter of Frank and Amelia (Parella) Gotto. Sue was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1954. She later attended the University of Maine at Farmington, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelors of Science in Education.
She taught special education at Meroby Elementary in Mexico and when she retired, she was at MVHS.
Sue was a member of the First Baptist church in Mexico. She was also a member of the Maine Teachers Association and the Mexico Historical Society.
Sue loved gardening, crafting, reading, playing cards with friends and spending time with her family.
She served as a volunteer for the Oxford County Democratic Party.
Surviving are her children, Joseph F. Waterhouse and wife, Kari, of Canton, David Waterhouse of Andover, and Lisa Reid and husband, Bob, of Mexico; a brother, Theodore Gotto and wife, Priscilla, of Roxbury; six grandchildren, Megan Gallant, Victor Bouthot, Shane Reid, Josh Waterhouse, Jill Waterhouse and Heidi Waterhouse; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Bouthot, Amelie Gallant and Cash Gallant; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; a grandson, Cory Bouthot; a sister, Ella Waddington; and two brothers, Francis Gotto and John Gotto.
