SKOWHEGAN (AP) — The trial of a Palmyra man charged with beating another man to death nearly two years ago has been postponed again because he is switching lawyers.
The Morning Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1GgQM7n ) reported that Jason Cote’s trial is now scheduled to start in November.
Cote is charged with murder in connection with the July 2013 bludgeoning death of 47-year-old Ricky Cole, who was found in his rented home in the town of Detroit. Authorities say the slaying was drug related.
Cote was represented by Philip Mohlar but asked for a new lawyer because he says his representation lagged after Mohlar’s partner left for the state attorney general’s office.
Attorney Stephen Smith has been appointed by the court to represent Cote. He did not return calls Wednesday for comment.
