VIENNA — Who is Kyle Knuppel? Many people asked themselves that question a year ago when he performed at the Vienna Union Hall.

He used to make his living singing and song writing in NYC. While studying in a masters class at Julliard, he worked as an EMT and ended up changing careers from music to medicine. A residency position at the Maine Dartmouth Family Practice Residency in Augusta/Waterville brought him to central Maine.

Kyle brought up his buddy, Matt Davis, from the Philly area, added two well-known jazz musicians in Maine on drums and bass and then generously donated their time to do a benefit concert for the Vienna Union Hall. Few had heard him sing, many had never heard of Kyle, and those that had heard of him were from work.

After hearing Kyle Knupple sing, he is NOT one you will forget! He has a voice smooth as silk. What he does with it is heavenly to listen to.

Matt Davis on guitar was another surprise! In addition to performing, Matt is an active composer, teacher and arranger. For 15 years, he has taught music on all levels from elementary to graduate levels. He is the Senior Lecturer of Jazz Guitar Performance at the University of Arts in Philadelphia, serves as a NY Pops Teaching Artist in NYC and founder of “Aerial Photography”, an original jazz ensemble inspired by the great historical and cultural diversity of the American experience, to mention a bit of all he does.

Matt was hailed as “incredible” by the Philadelphia Daily News and “inspired” by Downbeat magazine. He has received numerous awards and honors and has shared the stage with many notable musicians.

Kyle and Matt will be performing for a second time at the Vienna Union Hall on Saturday, June 13 at 7 p.m. The show is called American Songbook 2 – from originals to bluegrass to jazz.
