FARMINGTON — The school year has come to a close and the black flies are out in full force. Take shelter from the swarms and celebrate summer with the Mt. Blue Curtain Raisers Improv Comedy Troupe as they complete their annual improv-a-thon with a season-ending performance on Wednesday, June 17th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mt. Blue Forum.
Starting before the first bell of the school day on June 17th, Curtain Raisers will be improvising in the Mt. Blue Forum for thirteen hours, culminating in a public performance at 7:30 p.m. In the days leading up to the performance, Curtain Raisers will be approaching members of the community for sponsorships of this comedic endeavor. All funds raised will go towards programming workshops and performances with guest artists next season.
This year marked one of the most successful seasons in Curtain Raisers history. With performances almost monthly, Curtain Raisers delivered their unique brand of improv comedy to packed houses at Mt. Blue Campus, including the second annual Western Maine Improv Festival, and hosted Rhode Island’s Providence Improv Guild for a day of workshops and an evening of laughs. Curtain Raisers also collected non-perishables for the Wilton Area Food Pantry.
This show will also be audience members’ final opportunity to see senior Curtain Raisers Sam McIntosh, Dan Lesko and Aaron Willingham on stage.
Mt. Blue Curtain Raisers take to the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17 in the Mt. Blue Campus Forum. A suggested donation of $3 per person will be accepted at the door. Questions about the performance may be directed to Curtain Raisers Artistic Director, Dan Ryder, at 778-3561 or dryder@mtbluersd.org.
