1937 – 2015

AUBURN — David E. “Davy T” Thomas, 78, of Mexico, died Sunday, June 14, with his loving family by his side at the Hospice House, Auburn.

He was born in Rumford, on Jan. 10, 1937, a son of Paul and Theo (Walker) Thomas, and graduated from Mexico High School. He served with the U.S. Navy from Nov. 27, 1956, to Nov. 9, 1960. He was employed as a piper in the Maintenance Department of Boise Cascade Paper Co. in Rumford, until retirement after 41 years of service.

He was a member of Le Paresseux Snowshoe Club, Robert Shand Post 1641 VFW and Over the Hill Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed bluegrass festivals, camping and going to the Fryeburg Fair. He also restored two 1955 Fords.

David was married in Mexico on July 9, 1962, to Theresa Richard of Mexico, who survives him. Other survivors include six daughters, Geraldine Richards and husband, Randy, of Byron, Annette Ross and husband, Alex Sr., of Rumford, Marie Towle and husband, Jerry, of Poland, Sandra Boudreau of Roxbury, Pauline Goodell of Byron, and Stormy Cogley and husband, Paul, of Roxbury; brothers, Harold “Hacky” Thomas, and James “Chippy” Thomas and wife, Pat, all of Mexico; sister, Paula Legere and husband, Norman, of Mexico; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
