1929 – 2015

LEWISTON — Jeannine Potvin Breton Cloutier, 86, passed away on Sunday, June 14. She now joins the Lord and her two sons in heaven.

She was born in Auburn on May 5, 1929, but after the great New Auburn fire, the family moved to Lewiston, where she attended school and met and married Roger Breton in 1949. They had six children and raised them in a small community called Little Canada. Roger died in 1971. She remarried to George Cloutier in 1998. He died in 2008.

Jeannine was a kind and loving person, slow to anger, if she ever was angry. She was always soft-spoken and loved unconditionally. She always shied away from any argumentative moment and was a quiet and reflective person.

She worked in various places in Lewiston, finishing her working career at d’Youville Pavilion as a housekeeper.

In her earlier years, she always enjoyed Sunday picnics at Bear Pond Park in Turner. Jeanine and Roger would pack a lunch, put the children in the car and meet other family members there for a memorable day of fun.

For many years, she knitted yarn around clothes hangers and slippers for her family members. She also made potholders and dish towels and shared them with all of her family and friends. Now every time we open our closet doors, we will remember she made us those hangers with love.

She is survived by her son, Bert and wife, Gloria, of Turner; daughter, Pauline and fiancé, Bobby, of Sabattus; her son, Donald of Sabattus; her son, Ricky and fiancée, Christine, of Auburn; stepson, Bert of Sabattus; stepson, Donald of Monmouth; stepdaughter, Joan and husband, Dave, of Florida; stepson, Dan and wife, Wanda, of Florida; stepson, Mike and wife, Pauline, of Florida; three sisters, Lorraine and husband, Mike Gagnon, of Lewiston, Dorothy Levasseur of Lewiston, and Fleurette and husband, Reno Bell, of Lewiston. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Jeannine was predeceased by her husband, George; two sons, Denis and Mark Breton; two brothers; Normand and Lionel Potvin; great-grandson, Zachary; and a great-granddaughter, Brooke.
