DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a Storburn gas toilet at camp. To burn it, an anti foamer must be used. It is called MK-1 anti-foaming liquid. I used to order it directly from Storburn in Canada but cannot seem to contact them by phone or email. Is there a local company that has such a product? Is there a household liquid that can be used as a substitute? I am running low. If anyone has answers, contact me at regard322@hotmail.com.
ANSWER: Did you try emailing Storburn at info@storburn.ca or calling this phone number: 1-800-876-2286? Sun Spots found MK-1 Anti-Foam at www.EnviroAlternatives.com. They sell the bottles for $37.50. You can call toll free for more information at 1-877-713-7858.
Sun Spots also located a store called PropaneProducts.com that sells MK-1 Anti-Foam. No size for the product is shown but it lists for $60, is on sale for $54.95. The description states: “When ready to incinerate, add 1 cap full of anti-foam, close the unit, light the pilot with a built-in ignitor and activate the burner. Burner shuts off automatically when cycle is complete. Good for 30 burn cycles.” The company is located in Wisconsin and can be reached by phone at 1-877-409-1618.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read your articles everyday and thank you for all your work. I worked at RCA from 1966-1972. I would like to find a few people: Don Zurlo, West Ford, and Gene Freeman. Thank you. — Robert Rich at rrich649@gmail.com or 207-786-2154.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: You’ve always been very helpful, and I’m hoping you can be again. I recall some time back a story about a gentleman who made walking sticks for veterans. Would Sun Spots or readers have contact info for him? Second, is there a number to call the L/A police with concerns that don’t rise to the level of a 911 emergency but should be addressed, such as suspicious activity in a neighborhood? Thanks. — Andrew H. via online submission form.
ANSWER: Cole Museum has a Maine Veteran Walking Stick program for “Maine Veterans who served during a time of combat are eligible for a free Maine Maple Walking Stick, a token of the Cole Museum’s appreciation for their service. The veteran must come to the museum to get a walking stick.
“Eligibility: Military service in the following era(s): WWII: Dec 8 1941—Feb 10 1947; Korean War: June 1950—July 1954; Vietnam War: June 1961—August 1974; Global War on Terrorism: 1990—Present; The Persian Gulf; Desert Storm; Desert Shield; Somalia, Bosnia, Kosovo; Afghan War or Enduring Freedom; Iraqi War or Operation Iraqi Freedom. The dates covered are the same dates covered by the National Defense Medal.
“Note: Only one stick per veteran. Don’t qualify? Purchase a walking stick from Peavey Manufacturing, Route 9, in Eddington. Phone: 888-244-0955.”
