1934 – 2015
AUBURN—Florence I. “Pappy” Wardwell, 81, formerly of Mexico, passed away on Sunday June 21 at Clover Manor in Auburn following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Rumford on January 19, 1934, a daughter of Albert and Geneva (Mitchell) McKinnon. Pappy was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School Class of 1953.
She was a devoted mother and homemaker, and was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.
Pappy loved Tuesday night poker games with family and friends. Most of all, Pappy loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children; Clyde Wardwell Jr. of Mexico, Kim Scott and husband, Glenn, of Auburn, and Todd Wardwell and companion, Mary, of Mexico; three sisters, Margie Soucy of Dixfield, Barbara Hodge and husband, William, of Dixfield, and Jean Cote of Rumford; two grandchildren, Corbin Wardwell and Cassie Wardwell; a longtime family friend, Roger LeBlanc of Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, James McKinnon; five sisters, Dorothy Conrad, Mona Gallant, Shirley Woodard, Jackie Mailhot and Evelyn Fortier; and a granddaughter, Katie Marie Scott.
