BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Arts Council will host its 26th annual Art Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at the Bethel Common.
Executive Director Aranka Matolcsy said the fair will feature “a tempting buffet of paintings, weavings, sculptures, wood carvings, glass art, gourmet preserves, handmade jewelry,” and a variety of community events.
The fair will be in honor of local artists Melody and Garrett Bonnema of Bonnema Potters. Their work will be featured from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Owen Gallery at Gould Academy, and an evening meet-and-greet will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 3.
The 11th annual Shy, Novice and Closeted Art Show will coincide with the Bethel Art Fair. The show was started by resident Janet Willie, who was looking for a way to provide shy artists with a low-pressure venue to display their art.
Willie’s art show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 18 High St.
At the Bethel Historical Society, a free, two-hour concert by the Portland Brass Quintet will be held at 11:30 a.m. on the side lawn of the Dr. Moses Mason House. Before the concert, Executive Director Randall Bennett said, society President Tineke Ouwinga will say a few words, followed by observations from state Sen. John Patrick, D-Rumford.
