Officials say 57-year-old Jay McLaughlin of Medway overcharged by $7 per ton more than he should have for wood hauled to Sappi Paper’s Somerset Mill. He’s charged with theft by deception.

Messages left at McLaughlin’s home and business were not immediately returned.

WABI-TV reports that the contract was for wood to be hauled from Oakfield when Mclaughlin was actually taking the wood from Sebois to Hinckley, a shorter distance. The district attorney says Mclaughlin was charged last year with a similar crime.
