1921 – 2015
LEWISTON — Gertrude E. Snow, 93, of Auburn, passed away Friday evening at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.
She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 15, 1921, a daughter of the late Archibald and Gertrude (Hartford) MacDonald. She grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools there. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1940. She then went on to study nursing at St. Mary’s School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1943.
On July 19, 1947, she married Roy I. Snow in New Gloucester and they started a family together. She spent many years as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, before retiring to help her husband build the family business. She will always be remembered for her love of reading, cooking and spending quality time up at the camp on Pleasant Pond.
She is survived by her three children, Colleen McCormick and her companion, Rodney Paradis, of Mechanic Falls, Dan Snow and his wife, Debbie, of Lewiston, and Terri Seeley of Minot. She also leaves behind her wonderful grandchildren, Jennifer Agostinelli and her husband, Vincent, Kimberly McCormick and her fiance, Paul DeLima, Danielle Snow and her husband, Derek Ribbons, Darcy and Desiree Snow, Amber Bridges and her husband, Benjamin, and Benjamin Harrison and his wife, Chelsey; as well as her great-grandchildren, Gianna Agostinelli, Ethan Snow, Kayla Parker, Thia, Gavin, and Rachel Bridges, Aliza Moore; and a special niece, Lisa Brooks.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Roy, in 2009; a brother, Daniel MacDonald; and a sister, Virginia Tapley.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at d’Youville Pavilion for their excellent care and outstanding compassion shown toward Gertrude in her final weeks.
