JAY — Police have arrested a fourth person in last week’s string of burglaries in Jay, Weld and New Vineyard.
Devon Pease, 22, of Jay was arrested Saturday, July 4, by state police Trooper Andrew Hardy on two counts of burglary and two counts of violation of conditions of release, Sgt. Peter B. Michaud of the state police said Monday.
Pease confessed to being with D’Kota Rowe, Einer Bonilla and Duane Bailey while all three burglaries were completed in an interview with troopers Reid Bond and Hardy on Saturday at Pease’s home in Jay, Michaud said.
Jay Police Department charged Pease with one count of burglary and theft by unauthorized taking and transfer, Detective Michael Mejia said.
The three burglaries occurred during the early morning hours of July 1.
Einer Bonilla, 21, and Duane Bailey, 27, both of Grand Island, Neb., and D’Kota Rowe, 20, of East Dixfield were arrested July 2 on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief in a burglary at My Dad’s Place on Old Jay Hill Road in North Jay, Jay police said. The three are also charged with burglaries at Skoolhouse Variety in Weld and Our Village Market in New Vineyard.
Some tobacco products and alcohol were recovered at Rowe’s East Dixfield residence, where Bonilla and Bailey were staying while they worked for Rowe’s mother, who runs a concession stand at local fairs.
Hardy arrested Pease and took him to Franklin County Detention Center about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Bail was set at $750 cash, or a Maine Pretrial Services contract, by Judge Susan Oram during a televised court appearance Monday.
Bail conditions include no alcohol or substance use, no contact with the three co-defendants and to not visit the three stores involved.
Pease made no plea to the felony charge.
Pease became known to law enforcement a few years ago when he climbed onto a roof at the University of Maine at Farmington and attempted to jump when confronted by officers.
