HARRISONBURG, Va. — Shepard and Doreen Swain have announced the commencement of their son, Matthew Swain, who was awarded the degree of Ph.D in Assessment and Measurement from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. on May 7.
Swain previously earned his master’s degree from James Madison University in 2012 and a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University in 2010 graduating summa cum laude. Swain is a graduate of Mt. Blue High school class of 2006.
Swain has excelled throughout his higher education including developing and implementing an intake assessment process for Liberty University as well as co-authoring assessment work in the Transfer Student Orientation program at James Madison University that was subsequently awarded the highest distinction of all submissions.
Matthew’s dissertation was titled, “The Effects of a Planned Missingness Design on Examinee Motivation and Psychometric Quality.” Matthew has accepted a Research Scientist position at the Human Resources Research Organization in Alexandria, Va.
