BETHEL – The Mahoosuc Art Council’s annual ARTirondack chair auction will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 18, during the MollyOckett Day Festival.

The chairs, handcrafted by resident Reggie Brown, are later painted by a Western Maine artists for display at the festival. A meet-and-greet with the artists will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The artists are Tera Ingraham, Lauren Head, Audrey Arguin, Kather Berbarian, Sonia Albin, Marvin Owinga, Sarah Rene Lane, Luke Mason, Kyra Howes, Mahan Wood and Kyra Suwak, all of Bethel; Sarah Sheply and Aranka Matolcsy, both of South Paris; Martha Hughes of Portland; and Betsey Marcello and Cassidy Wilson, both of Fryeburg.

The auction will feature 18 chairs, and for the first time since residents can purchase some of the chairs outside of the auction.

Matolcsy, who also serves as executive director for the Mahoosuc Arts Council, said the chairs are on display at Norway Savings Bank, the Maine Mineral Gem Museum, the Bethel Post Office and the Bethel Town Office.

All money raised goes toward K-12 arts education funding.
