GREENWOOD — Fourteen hours of reggae music from internationally acclaimed artists to local bands and dancehall djs, will come together to create the GreenWoods Reggae Revival, set for Saturday, July 25 at Mt. Abram Ski Area, 308 Howe Hill Road.

Gates open and the music starts at 10 a.m. The main stage closes at midnight. The main lodge will feature I-ganic Sound  from midnight to 2 a.m. 

Prominent among the many performers at the festival are Prezident Brown and Sister Carol. 

Prezident Brown is a conscious Jamaican roots reggae artist who carries a universal message of hope and righteousness. Prezident brown has been touring the U.S. every year consistently for the last decade with his own band. He has also recently headlined numerous reggae festivals.

Sister Carol’s music is rich with cultural values, social consciousness and positive conceptions. Over the years she has been a top-featured artist on many festivals. Sister Carol is exceptionally talented on the mic and she is also mindful of the importance of her influence  as an example to her listeners.

Many people were introduced to Sister Carol through her acting in the Jonathan Demme directed movies “Something Wild,” “Married to the Mob” and most recently “Rachel Getting Married.” Her first feature film in 1986 was “Something Wild” with Melanie Griffths and Jeff Daniels followed by Married to the Mob with Michelle Pfeiffer, Dean Sockwell and Matthew Modine in 1988, and most recently the Oscar-nominated “Rachel Getting Married” with Anne Hathaway.

The festival welcomes all ages, 12 and under get in for free. Under 18 must be accompanied by and adult.
