CASCO — Camp Sunshine has announced a partnership with Paramount Pictures and online fundraising giant Omaze in the new film’s “To Boldly Go” campaign.
Those wishing to have a chance to appear in a walk-on role in the “Star Trek Beyond” film may donate to the fundraising page on Omaze, and winners will be randomly selected among donors and have the opportunity to appear in the film. The proceeds will be split evenly among the nine charities that were selected by a cast member.
Camp Sunshine was selected by Anton Yelchin, who plays Pavel Chekov in the film.
Camp Sunshine will use the funds in support of their Family Sponsorship Program, which ensures that there is never a charge to participating families.
“We couldn’t be more pleased and humbled by the commitment of the cast to change the lives of ill children and their families around the world. We are equally excited to be able to boldly go forward and serve even more families through this partnership,” said Michael Katz, Camp Sunshine’s executive director.
This past June, Camp Sunshine was contacted through one of their volunteers with the opportunity to participate in this campaign.
“I continue to be amazed by the outreach of our program and the partnerships we are able to nurture. Although this will generate significant funding for our program, the real windfall is the awareness this will create,” said Camp Sunshine’s director of special events, Michael Smith.
