FARMINGTON — Nominations for the 2015 Farmington Gem Award are due by 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 22.

These must be dropped off or emailed to Mainestone Jewelry by that time. The winner will be announced prior to the street dance at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 25, during the town’s Summer Fest celebration.

Since 2010, the annual award has been given to individuals who “exemplify the following facets in life: commitment, dedication, time, service, compassion, empathy and love for the people and the town of Farmington.”

Nomination forms for people who demonstrate these qualities are available at Calico Patch, Minikins and Mainestone Jewelry.

The person with the most nominations is given a glass-faceted gemstone and their name is added to a plaque of past winners.

Other Gem Award winners include Richard and Judy Bjorn in 2014; Emily Floyd, 2013; Darlene Mooar, 2012;  Patricia Hayden, 2011; and the Rev. Scott Planting, 2010.
