1933 – 2015

AUBURN — Virginia J. Miller, 82, of Maine Street, Poland, died Wednesday, July 22, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, with her loving family at her side.

She was born in New Gloucester on July 8, 1933, a daughter of the late Thomas and Isabella (Monachan) Ames. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in the Class of 1951. She married James Miller II on Feb. 1, 1951; he predeceased her in August 2013.

Virginia worked for many years at Liberty Mutual in Lewiston, retiring in 1996. She was very active in the Class of 1951 Reunion Committee.

Virginia was a huge Red Sox fan and loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, following them in their many activities.

She leaves her three children, James Miller III and his wife, Carol, of Auburn, Keli Ouellette and her fiancé, Tom Morgan, of Poland, and Jodi Bennett and husband, Tony, of Mechanic Falls; a sister, Reta Graham and husband, Skip, of Massachusetts; a brother, Richard Ames of Auburn; her five grandchildren, Mauri Dufour and husband, Jay, James “Joey” Miller and wife, Kristen, Matthew Ouellette and wife, Bethany, Marrissa Jordan and husband, James, and Bryton Bennett and fiancée, Shelby Carlson; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Martha.
