BELFAST (AP) — A New York man is OK after accidentally driving his car into Belfast harbor.
Police say 74-year-old William Haley meant to turn into the parking lot of a restaurant but instead drove down a boat launch and into the water at around 6 p.m. Sunday.
When Haley yelled for help, 68-year-old Ron Stevens, of Rhode Island, jumped into the water and helped him get out of his car before it became submerged.
The car was towed out of the water within 15 minutes.
Both men were treated at a local hospital for low core temperature and released.
Police do not suspect that Haley was driving impaired.
