DIXFIELD — The Ludden Memorial Library will wrap up its summer reading program at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, with a performance from popular Maine magician, “The Great Stephan,” librarian Peggy Malley said Monday afternoon.
Malley said that from 2 to 3 p.m., Lewiston magician Steve Cornish, who performs under the moniker “The Great Stephan,” will close out the library’s summer reading program with a performance that mixes close-up magic and illusions.
“The theme this year was ‘Every Hero Has A Story,’” Malley said. “It’s something that a lot of local libraries have used this year. There is usually a consolidated effort to keep things similar. There are incentives to doing so, and we sometimes get special materials that go along with the year’s particular theme.”
Cornish is known for performing at a wide variety of venues throughout the state, including libraries.
“I met Steve during a magic show at (theater venue) 49 Franklin, and he said he would definitely be interested to visit Ludden Library and do magic for the kids,” Malley said.
Following Cornish’s magic performance, Malley said that she will be distributing reading certificates to the children who completed the summer reading program.
