AUGUSTA (AP) — The order of the questions on November’s ballot has been finalized, but officials aren’t expecting that many residents will show up to the polls.
Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap’s office said Monday that the first question on the ballot will be the citizen’s initiative that seeks to strengthen the state’s public financing program for legislative and gubernatorial candidates. The office is still taking public comment on the exact wording of that question.
The second question will be a $15 million bond to build more housing for low-income seniors. The third and final question will be an $85 million bond to improve roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
Dunlap tells the Maine Public Broadcasting Network that he anticipates turnout to be as low as 15 or 20 percent of registered voters.
