1918 – 2015
AUBURN — Blanche J. Banks, 96, of 440 Minot Ave., Auburn, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Clover Manor Health Care, following a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 29, 1918, the daughter of the late Edouard and Anna (Blais) Bolduc and had been a resident of this community all of her life.
She married Arthur J. Banks on April 25, 1943; he died on March 6, 1998.
Blanche was educated in Lewiston schools and had been employed as a stitcher in the local shoe industry for many years until her retirement in 1991.
Blanche was an avid golfer and bowler. She was a fantastic mother and was well-known for her blueberry muffins. She was a member of the former St. Patrick’s Parish and St. Patrick’s Women’s Sodality.
She is survived by one son, Daniel Banks and his wife, Maxine, of Vernon, Conn.; one daughter, Sheila (Banks) Gibbs and her husband, Bruce, of Cape Elizabeth; five grandchildren, Donna Banks, Shawna Moeykens, Bruce Gibbs Jr. and Kelley and Ryan Banks; four great-grandchildren, Sam Gibbs, Ella Rose Gibbs and Sehan and Minji Moeykens.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Galway Place at Clover Manor Health Care and also to the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for all of their support they have given to Blanche.
