1939 – 2015
LEWISTON — Fleurette G. Roux, 76, of Central Avenue, Lewiston, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Hospice House after a long illness.
She was born on March 25,1939, daughter of Jean Charles and Jeanne (Bernier) Fortier.
She was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1956. In 1960, Flo married her husband and soul mate, John. They were together for 48 years before his passing in 2008.
She loved sports as a teen and grew particularly fond of tennis, playing weekly round-robins with ”the gang.” She thoroughly enjoyed going to the ocean, dancing, playing card games with her beloved girlfriends and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Flo worked for Cottle’s and Shop ‘n Save, then at Hannaford in Lewiston as a cashier for over 30 years. As of her retirement in 2004, she came to know nearly the entire city of Lewiston.
She is survived by her son, Michael Roux of Bowdoin; two grandsons, David and Jonathan; daughter, Denise Roux of Lisbon; brother, Raymond Fortier; sisters, Monique Grenier and Joline Gagne; and several nieces and nephews, all of Lewiston.
She was predeceased by her parents; and husband, John.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, d’Youville Pavilion and the caring staff at the Hospice House and give special thanks to Dr. Richard Kappelmann.
