AUBURN — Councilors continued their reorganization of city staff, making Denis D’Auteuil the permanent assistant city manager.
Councilors named Howard Kroll the full time city manager earlier in August after nine months as acting city manager. Kroll replaced Clinton Deschene as manager in November 2014 and made D’Auteuil his acting second in command in July 2015.
Councilors voted last week to make that decision permanent.
D’Auteuil was hired in May of 2010 as deputy public works director, backing up Robert Belz, the long-time director of that department. He took over the director’s job in July 2012 when Belz retired.
Kroll credited D’Auteuil with leading the reorganization of the public works department, parks maintenance division and engineering division — combining them to create a single public services department in 2013. He also served as the interim general manager of the Norway Savings Bank Arena, May through June of 2015.
D’Auteuil is a long-term resident of the Twin Cities and is a graduate of St. Dominic’s High School.
