WILTON — A Rumford motorcyclist was injured and a Fayette woman was charged in a motor vehicle collision at Route 2 and Walker Hill Road on Friday afternoon, police said.

Paul Lowell, 61, was driving a 2012 Harley-Davidson west on Route 2 when Kayla Hilton, 19, failed to stop her 2003 Hyundai Accent at the stop sign on Walker Hill Road before crossing Route 2, Wilton Police Sgt. Chad Abbott said.

Hilton told police she looked both ways and didn’t see anyone coming, so she didn’t stop. Lowell’s motorcycle hit the front driver’s side of her car. The accident occurred at about 4 p.m.

Lowell was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington by NorthStar ambulance with apparent minor injuries, Abbott said.

Hilton was given a summons on a charge of failing to stop for a stop sign, Abbott said.

Lowell’s motorcycle was demolished and towed by Collins Enterprises. Hilltop Collision Center of Jay towed Hilton’s car, which will likely be a total loss, the sergeant said.

Abbott and Wilton police officer Gary Allen were assisted at the scene by Cpl. Christopher Chase from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Wilton Fire Department and East Dixfield Fire Department.
