MEXICO — Police Chief Roy Hodsdon said two men were injured Thursday night when their car crashed and the motor landed across Route 120 from the rest of the car.

Darren Jodrey, 21, of Andover was driving south with Craig Richard, 23, of Rumford when he lost control of his 2006 Pontiac, swerved to the opposite side of the road and crashed, the chief said.

“We received a call from someone who said that there was a car severely damaged on the side of the road,” Hodsdon said. “Upon arriving, we found the vehicle on the opposite side of the road. The motor of the vehicle had actually separated from the car and was laying across the street, on fire. It’s hard to tell if the vehicle had flipped over or not, but there was a lot of damage to the car.”

Hodsdon said Jodrey may have suffered a broken shoulder. He was taken to Rumford Hospital.

Richard had minor injuries and declined to be taken to the hospital, the chief said.

The cause of the accident is being investigated, he said.
