RUMFORD — After a scoreless first half, Marissa Crosby and Abby Harding took matters into their own hands and each scored goal, leading Mountain Valley to 2-1 victory over Oak Hill in a season-opening field hockey game Wednesday.
Liza White and Crosby picked up assists on Mountain Valley’s two goals.
Oak Hill’s Abby Asselin scored on a feed by Mercedes Pease in the second half.
Mt. Ararat 2, Lewiston 1 (2OT)
TOPSHAM — It took double overtime, but Mt. Ararat settled the matter when Meghan Thomas Copland scored the game-winning goal, lifting Mt. Ararat to 2-1 victory over Lewiston in a season-opening field hockey game Wednesday.
Lewiston scored first in the opening half when Jazlyn Dumas slipped on in the net.
In the second half, the Eagles caught up with the Blue Devils when Eva Jerome scored the tying goal.
Telstar 2, Hall-Dale 0
FARMINGDALE — Becca Howard led the way for Telstar with a goal and a helper as the Rebels opened the season with a 2-0 win over Hall-Dale in MVC field hockey action Wednesday.
Kaylee Magee stopped five shots for Hall-Dale in the loss.
Telstar’s next game is slated for Friday at home against Boothbay at 4 p.m.
