1930 – 2015
LEWISTON — Reginald C. “Babe” Melanson, 85, of Lewiston died Thursday morning, Sept. 3, at the Marshwood Health Care Facility following a long illness.
He was born in Lewiston on May 10, 1930, the son of Marguerite (Bannister) Melanson and had been a resident of this community all of his life.
He was married to the former Gloria Mercier, who died in 1990.
He served with the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant, and was owner and operator of the Manor Club in Lewiston.
Babe enjoyed traveling, motorcycles and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
He was a parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the American Legion.
He is survived by three sons, Regan Melanson and his wife, Denyse, of Fort Myers, Fla., James Melanson and his wife, Kim, of Greene, and William Melanson and his wife, Rachel, of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Nathan, Justin, Troy, Eric and Matthew Melanson; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Tanner; one sister, Priscilla Gendron and her husband, Dolard, of Lewiston; his companion of more than 20 years, Marie Larochelle of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.
