TOPSHAM — Lexi Caron led a group of four players to record goals Tuesday as Oxford Hills hustled to a 4-0 victory over Mt. Ararat in a MVC field hockey tilt.

Bailey Wood, Ashlei Moss and Haley Wakefield also tallied for the Vikings (2-1) to complete the scoring. 

Anna Huff made six shots for Oxford Hills, while Haley Frizzell deflected 17 shots for the Eagles (1-2). 

Messalonskee 2, Mt. Blue 1

OAKLAND — Messalonskee ushered in a pair of goals to nudge Mt. Blue with a 2-1 victory in field hockey action Tuesday afternoon.

The Cougars (1-2) were only able to score once behind a conversion from Leah St. Laurent to Abby Wallace.

Goalie Erika McArthur suffered the loss in net for Mt. Blue.

Girls’ soccer

Gardiner 2, Spruce Mountain 0

JAY — Lauren Chadwick blasted the ball across the goal just three minutes into the second half for the eventual game-winning tally as Gardiner secured a 2-0 victory over Spruce Mountain in girls’ soccer action Tuesday afternoon.

Chadwick followed up with an insurance goal later in the second half.

Goalie Amber Delaney made 11 saves for the Pheonix, while goalie Tabytha Hembree stopped all seven for the shutout.

Lewiston 10, Skowhegan 1

LEWISTON — Kajha Gagnon and Kristina Blais each recorded a hat trick Tuesday as Lewiston rolled to a 10-1 rout over Skowhegan in KVAC girls’ soccer action. 

Adela Kalilwa chipped in for the Blue Devils (1-1-0) with two goals, while Alanna Taylor and Olivia Bergeron also tallied to complete the scoring. Chloe Thorndike netted the lone goal for Skowhegan (0-2-0). 

Kelsey St. Cyr made four saves for Lewiston, while Tara Bernard turned aside eight shots between the posts for Skowhegan. 

Messalonskee 3, Edward Little 2

AUBURN — Lauren Pickett scored her second goal of the contest with 18 minutes left in regulation to give Messalosnkee a 3-2 victory over Edward Little Tuesday.

Piper Norcross gave the Red Eddies (0-1-1) a 1-0 advantage in the first frame with an assist from Lauren Berube.  The Eagles (2-0) promptly scored three goals within 10 minutes in the second half to take command and the win. Fern Calkins also tallied for Messalonskee to complete the scoring. 

Francesca Beth-Haines turned aside 14 shots for Edward Little. 

Gray-New Gloucester 2, North Yarmouth Academy 1

NORTH YARMOUTH — Emma Woods found the net late in the second half Tuesday to give Gray-New Gloucester a narrow 2-1 win over North Yarmouth Academy. 

Hannah Dixon also tallied for the Patriots (1-1), while Anna Laprise tallied for North Yarmouth (0-2). 

Jen Sutherland made two saves to notch the shutout, while Lindsay Tufts deflected nine shots between the posts for North Yarmouth Academy.

Leavitt 1, Erskine 1

SOUTH CHINA — Victoria DeCoster hit a long shot to the back post from the left side with 8:41 left in the first half to give Leavitt a 1-1 tie against Erskine in an early-season KVAC girls’ soccer tilt Tuesday.

Mallory Chamberlain converted a penalty kick for the Eagles to score the equalizer. 

Angela Daigle made 14 saves for the Hornets, while Cassandra Ray deflected eight shots for Erskine.
