1933 – 2015
WEST PARIS — Beverly W. Vereshko, 81, of Norway passed away on Monday, Sept. 14, at Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris after a long illness.
She was born Dec. 6, 1933, daughter of James and Elvira (Patterson) Wing of Enfield, Conn. Beverly attended Enfield schools and was a graduate of the Saint Francis School of Nursing in Hartford, Conn. Beverly married Alfred N. Conlon of Enfield, Conn., in 1953 and they made their home in Enfield, along with their four children. Alfred passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 15, 1972.
Beverly married William C. Vereshko on Aug. 31, 1979, and the two decided to make Maine their home. Beverly continued her lifelong career in geriatric nursing until 2004, when she retired after more than 50 years at the age of 71. Beverly truly enjoyed nursing and as a result, was able to touch and make a difference in the lives of many patients, their families, co-workers and all others who had the pleasure of knowing her. She, too, found this life very rewarding and realized many joys and gifts as a result of her career choice.
Beverly enjoyed the outdoors, including camping and canoeing. She was an avid fisherwoman as well, and loved spending time at the many area lakes. In her later years, Beverly traded in her trailer and paddles for long rides in the country with her husband, hoping to spot moose. Beverly and her husband attempted to see as much of Maine as possible and particularly enjoyed eating lunch/dinner at local restaurants in small towns throughout the state. Beverly also enjoyed going to casinos and playing bingo, whether it was on her computer or at her favorite bingo hall. Her greatest love, above all else, was her family.
Beverly is survived by her loving husband, William C. Vereshko of Norway; two sons, Wayne Conlon and wife, Donna, of Dennisport, Mass., and Patrick Conlon and wife, Gloria, of Norway; two daughters, Deborah Estes and husband, Stephen, of Waterford, and Sandra Shorey and husband, Christopher, of Norway; a brother, Ronald Wing of San Diego, Calif.; four stepchildren; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Ledgeview Living Center for the wonderful care they provided and the staff and volunteers at the Androscoggin Hospice for the care and compassion that they provided to Beverly and the family during the difficult time.
