DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 10 board Monday approved applying an additional $339,000 in state aid toward the 2016-17 district budget.

The money was received after the 2015-16 budget was adopted.

Superintendent Craig King said letters will be sent to officials in the 10 district towns stating the funds will be considered carryover money.

Also Monday, the board scheduled reception for 40 new employees at 5:45 p.m. Sept. 28.

The district has about 450 employees.

King said positions still to be filled are one special education teacher, one educational technician and one physical education teacher for Rumford Elementary School.

Several people were hired Monday, including Ken Baker as teacher leader at Mountain Valley High School, Bert Chasse as middle school boys’ varsity soccer coach at Buckfield Junior-Senior High School, Chris Carver and MaryEllen Anderson as National Honor Society co-advisers at Mountain Valley High School, Jaymie Marston as Buckfield Junior-Senior High School girls’ varsity soccer coach, and Trudi Cormier as Class of 2019 adviser at Mountain Valley High School.

Resignations were accepted from Meroby Elementary School Principal Melanie Chasse, Mountain Valley Middle School health teacher Erica Grimaldi, and Pennacook Learning Center special education teacher Jenny Hudner.

Other appointments included Barbara Hall and Greg Buccina as van drivers, Rodney Jamison as bus driver/custodian for the Mountain Valley region, Julie Couture as special education educational technician at Dirigo Elementary School, Ryan Palmer as study hall monitor educational technician at Dirigo High School, and Larry Thornton as special education educational technician at Hartford-Sumner Elementary School.

King said the unofficial student enrollment as of Sept. 14 was 2,582. The official number will be announced Oct. 1.

The next board meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28 after the reception for new employees.
