I write in support of Jim Lysen, candidate for the Lewiston Ward 1 Council seat. He and his wife, Susann Pelletier, and their daughter, Genevieve Lysen, have lived in this ward for some 30 years. They have contributed to this community as volunteers all of those years. Former state Sen. Margaret Craven is his campaign treasurer.

Lysen recently retired after 12 years as executive director of Community Clinical Services, affiliated with St. Mary’s Health System. He holds a master’s degree in city and regional planning and served as Lewiston’s planning director for 15 years. He started his professional career in Maine as a civil engineer at the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

A strong advocate for living wage jobs, he supports education funding and job training. He is also a Social Security ambassador, working to expand benefits for seniors.

Jim Lysen is by far the best candidate to serve the residents of Ward 1.
