DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have noticed in your column that readers have asked about locating someone to work on Monitor heaters. I wish to tell you that Ron Cote Heating is now Steven James Heating. Steve worked with Ron during the last years that he was in business, and has now taken over. Steven James Heating can be reached at 207-618-5343 or 207-613-2968. Besides Monitors, he can handle all oil heating needs. Thank you, Connie Ayotte.
ANSWER: Yes, Connie, you are correct and with the temperatures dipping into the 40s last night and this morning, this is good timing. Sun Spots does get asked often about heating solutions. You may be interested to know that the Sun Journal will publish a special Heating Solutions supplement on Friday, Sept. 25. You can find it in the paper or online that day at http://specials.sunjournal.com/.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice is looking for volunteers to fill the many needs we have for patients and families as well as needs in the office and Hospice House. Volunteer support has been an integral part of our services for 40 years. The program is widely recognized as one of the most extensive, non-profit, home health care volunteer programs in Maine.
We have many needs for patients under our Home Care and Hospice services. Needs for patients and families include respite for the caregiver, companionship, grocery shopping, transportation to doctors’ appointments and other special needs as requested. Volunteers are matched with patients in their area, so the travel is limited. Transportation volunteers are reimbursed mileage for bringing patients to doctors’ appointments. Other volunteer opportunities include bereavement, office and Hospice House (kitchen, phones, or visiting patients). There are many ways to volunteer, and we will help you find the right role for you.
The counties we cover include Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford, Sagadahoc, and Somerset. Many volunteers have traveled for training, but then have enjoyed the convenience of visiting with patients and families from their own area.
We have several trainings scheduled and encourage anyone interested to call Kathy Baillargeon, volunteer supervisor at 207-795-9586 or email at kathy.baillargeon@ahch.org for more information and to register.
