ALEXANDRIA, N.H. — Huguette “Peg” R. Reilly, 77, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Franklin Regional Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born and raised in Lewiston, the daughter of Aristide and Irma (Carrier) Roy. Huguette earned a bachelor’s degree in English, but spent most of her working career in mortgage banking.
She specialized in start-up businesses and intervening for companies in trouble, working in Lewiston, southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. In 1982, Peg moved to Alexandria, N.H., and operated the Stone Rest Bed and Breakfast.
Peg has always held an interest in local politics and served in several capacities. She was a former selectman in Alexandria and treasurer of the Pemi-Baker Valley Republican Committee. She volunteered with the Big Sister Program and the Minot-Sleeper Library. As a bed and breakfast owner, she participated in several owners’ organizations, was a member of the NRA and was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish.
Peg will always be remembered as a very generous and loving woman who was focused on her family and friends. She supported them in all of their endeavors and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Family members include her husband, Harold “Skip” Reilly Sr. of Alexandria, N.H.; a son, Roch (Sheila) Rousseau of Auburn; two daughters, Judi (Normand) Rousseau-Gagnon of Auburn, and Andrea (David Krigger) Rousseau of Allison Park, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Sue Ann (John) Williamson of Bristol, N.H., and Geraldine (Gary) Roberts of Clarks Summit, Pa.; stepson, Harold “Tom” Reilly Jr. of Alexandria, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Roger (Cecile) Roy of Lisbon; and nieces and nephews.
