JAY — Police are looking for anyone with information about a hit-and-run crash in which a Jeep Wrangler hit a truck parked in a driveway and destroyed it on Main Street near the road construction on Route 4 early Thursday morning.
Most of the black hard top of the Jeep broke off and was left behind at the scene, Detective Michael Mejia said.
The Jeep left the roadway before it hit the black 2000 GMC pickup in the driveway and left the scene of the accident, he said.
The driver of the Jeep did not report the accident. The owner of the parked truck reported damage to his truck.
“It is a total loss,” Mejia said.
There should be some pieces of the hard top remaining on the Jeep, he said.
Other evidence was collected at the scene.
The hit-and-run occurred after 1 a.m., he said.
Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier is investigating the crash, and Mejia is assisting him.
Anyone with information can contact the Jay Police Department at 897-6766.
