AUBURN — Funeral services honoring the life of Rose T. Thurston were held Friday, Oct. 2, at Court Street Baptist Church with the Rev. David Clark and the Rev. Allison Vanderlinden presiding.
During the service, flute soloist Marge Muise played “In the Presence of Jehovah.” Donna Sweetser shared words of remembrance of Rose when she taught first grade at Lake Street School. The Court Street Baptist Choir, accompanied by organist Kathy Haley, sang “How Great Thou Art,” “In the Garden,” “Face to Face,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Because He Lives.” The final song, “My Wild Irish Rose,” was sung by family friend Michael Parker as a final tribute to Rose.
Following a funeral procession to Gracelawn Memorial Park, the Rev. Allison Vanderlinden recited committal prayers to conclude services. All in attendance were invited back to the church hall for a reception of fellowship.
The pallbearers were Arthur, Matt and Mark Gary, as well as Bill and David Tufts, Don Rowe, Michael Pomeroy and Merton Vining.
