WEST FORKS (AP) — A Maine man is dead after police say the sport utility vehicle he was driving struck a guardrail and a large boulder on U.S. Route 201.
The Morning Sentinel reported (http://bit.ly/1j2UMks) the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that 44-year-old David Dubois, of Fairfield, was killed in the single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in West Forks, located about 72 miles northwest of Bangor.
The accident was reported around 4 p.m.
Authorities say the SUV veered into the northbound lane and rolled over several times before coming to a rest upright in a ditch. Dubois was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
