ALFRED, Maine (AP) — Authorities say a Waterboro man has been arrested after he shocked a woman with a cattle prod while wearing a wig.

York County Sheriff Bill King says the 48-year-old man assaulted the woman, who works as a court mediator, early Thursday evening. He is expected to appear in court Tuesday on attempted kidnapping and assault charges.

King says the incident happened outside an Arundel home. He says the man placed a cattle prod between her legs and shocked her when she was exiting her vehicle. He then allegedly placed his hands over her mouth as she fought him, then fled in a vehicle.

An investigation revealed that the attorney had encountered him several years ago during a child custody dispute.

He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
