JAY — The Spruce Mountain school community will hold a benefit supper and raffles from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, to help a member of its faculty pay for medical expenses related to her late husband’s battle with cancer.

Francis “Skip” Ross was diagnosed with stage III lung cancer in 2013. He was treated with chemotherapy and radiation until the cancer traveled to his brain, pancreas and other organs. He died Aug. 22.

He left behind his wife, Mary Ross, their sons, Joshua, Branden and Dillon, and grandson Nicholas.

Ross is an educational technician at Livermore Elementary School, and she and her family need support handling Skip’s remaining medical expenses.

The benefit, organized by Spruce Mountain High School teacher Diane Maurais, is being held to offer community support for the family during this difficult time.

Rolls/butter, salad and a choice of dessert will be served with the lasagna.
