1934 – 2015
AUBURN — Joan L. Sampson, 80, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1934, the daughter of Martha Cash Tripp and her father, Hiram Tripp. She attended local schools, graduating from Edward Little High School with the Class of 1953. Joan worked for a brief time at Pioneer Plastics, where she met the love of her life, James. They were married on Feb. 28, 1970, and together raised their family of six children.
Joan was a fabulous cook, who loved to share her food with all of her family and friends. Over the years, she has amassed a large collection of bells which she loved to talk about. She made trips to the mountains to watch moose and watch the birds as they fluttered around. She sacrificed her life for all of her kids that she loved so much.
Some of her favorite things to do were taking trips, watching movies and spending time with her close friends, Wayne and Charlene Jordan.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James; six children, Jane and her husband, Roger Turcotte, of Auburn, Becky and her husband, Ron Miller, of Winthrop, Ricky Burns of Danville, Mark and his wife, Tammy Burns, of Wales, Robin and her husband, Todd Failing, of New York, and Todd and his wife, Alison Sampson, of Auburn; 12 grandchildren, Samantha, Sabrina, Ross, Dawn Amber, Elizabeth, Dalton, Ronnie, Jovonna, Marcus, Mack, Will and Hannah; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Emily and Ashton.
