1935 – 2015

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. — David Irving Jewell, 80, a resident of St. Petersburg, Fla. and a former resident of Monmouth, passed away on Monday, Sept. 28, at St. Petersburg General Hospital.

He was born in Monmouth on Sept. 22, 1935, the son of Leslie P. and Jennie P. Jewell. David attended Monmouth schools, Weatherford College in Texas and Tarleton State University in Texas, where he received his bachelor’s degree.

He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service and also retired from the United States Post Office.

David was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Monmouth No. 110 AF and AM as well as being a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Kora Temple in Lewiston. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Winthrop and the DAV, Chapter 18, in Florida.

He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Jewell Wilson of Lewiston and Connie Jewell Kinsey and her husband, Ross, of Summerville, S.C.; a son, Timothy Jewell of Auburn; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Florence Hatcher of Conway, Ark.; a niece and her husband; two great-nieces of Conway; a nephew of Manchester; and his former wife, Pauline Jewell of Auburn.
