DEAR READERS: Here’s a reminder that when you send in a query you must be willing to pay at least a small fee for whatever item or service you seek. Only nonprofits can seek items for free. Also, for the readers writing in about Sudoku, if you see that it is missing in the newspaper, that was an error on the part of our layout staff. It wasn’t intentional. We are not getting rid of Sudoku. As for whether we print easy, medium or hard puzzles, it is difficult to please everyone and so we try to keep a mix in the paper. Thanks for your understanding.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In the spring of 1956 a boy, Jimmy, 16 years old or so, was burning brush when he caught fire and was badly burned. We were in CMG hospital together for all of July that year. My hope is to find him to thank him for his friendship. Thank you. — Carol Chaney Waters at facekissers@gmail.com or 207-778-4641.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for someone who can make me a candy cane wreath. I have the frame — I need someone to add the boughs and decoration. My other request: What can I put in my closets other than moth balls? Thank you. — Call No Name at 207-782-6673.

ANSWER: Instead of moth balls, many people use cedar shavings or blocks. You can also fill a cheesecloth bag with cloves, eucalyptus, lavender, cinnamon sticks and bay leaves. Smells better than moth balls and repels moths, too.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to thank your readers for their generosity to Turner Elementary School and Tripp Middle School for sending their Box Tops for Education. We have started the new school year. If you have any Box Tops or Campbell Soup Labels that you would like to donate to our school, please mail them to me at: 5 Brookfield Est., Turner, Maine 04282. Thank you. — Laurie Labbe.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Another dental office that buys back Halloween candy is Complete Dentistry at 7 Thompson St. in Wilton. This year during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 to Friday, Nov. 6, children can get cash for their Halloween treats. For every pound of candy, receive $1 and your school will receive 50 cents. All this candy will be donated to our troops. Call 207-645-4994 for more information or visit www.completedentistrymaine.com.
