DIXFIELD — The town’s annual Halloween Walk will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, resulting in the temporary closing of several side streets, police Chief Jeff Howe said Wednesday morning.
Howe said that in order to protect the children participating in the walk, the Police Department will close Weld Street up to the Ellis Street intersection.
If drivers wish to get around Weld Street to continue on Route 142, traffic can go up over High Street and turn on Pine Street, he said.
The Halloween Walk will last until the candy is gone, Howe said at Monday’s selectmen’s meeting, adding that donations for the walk are significantly lower this year.
Howe said that resident Missy Bradbury and a committee of residents were responsible for coordinating the walk and “pulling it all together,” as well as supplying the candy in bulk for the children.
Donations may be dropped off at the Town Office, he said.
