LEWISTON — Maine State police took a Great Dane that was struck by a vehicle Friday morning to a local animal hospital.

According to a Facebook post, Trooper Jason Wing found the dog at Main Street and Strawberry Avenue. Witnesses told Wing that the vehicle left the scene.

Wing took the dog to Lewiston Veterinary Hospital on Stetson Road. His owners found him there and were waiting on x-rays, according to Facebook comments.
