ORLAND — Members of the Franklin County Maine Extension Homemakers attended the Maine Extension Homemakers Council October Fall Meeting at the Orland Community Center.

President Marie Temm of Cumberland County officiated.

More than 70 members recited the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the meeting, followed by the Extension Homemakers Creed written by Caroline Mayo of Franklin County.

Lisa Phelps, program administrator for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, delivered a message from John Rebar, extension director. Debbie Killam, MEHC adviser, reminded members that Extension Homemakers are a beacon for others to follow in their communities.

Past Presidents Barbara Hathaway of Wilton and Pam Dupont of Hancock County installed Marion Shaw as secretary and Judith Mann as treasurer. Each were presented a yellow rose of friendship. Lisa Fishman of Aroostook County, past president adviser, was in attendance.

Two informational programs were presented, one about gleaning by Katie Freedman and one about the Great Pond Mountain Land Trust by Jack Mae Brayne.

The Hancock County Extension Homemakers hosted the event with President Betty Robshaw, who welcomed the group with Go Green grocery bags filled with welcome items and apples for everyone. Individuals, organizations and businesses donated items for raffle baskets, which were raffled off at the close of the meeting.
