HEBRON — Daniel Marchetti of Vermont has been named the new head of school at Hebron Academy.
He will start in that post on July 1, 2016.
Marchetti is currently the head of school at The Grammar School in Putney, Vt. He and his wife, Courtney, have two children, Lila and Oliver.
The independent school’s board of trustees made the announcement in a press release Friday.
Prior to his current job, Marchetti was a teacher, coach, dorm parent, admissions officer, dean of students and ultimately, assistant headmaster at The Hillside School in Massachusetts, according to the release. While there, in addition to his other duties, he led the Strategic Planning Task Force and was a member of the Trustee Audit Committee.
In addition to his teaching and administrative experience in independent schools, Marchetti has been involved in leadership training as an instructor at both Outward Bound and the National Outdoor Leadership School.
He grew up in, and graduated from, the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Conn., where his parents were faculty members, and went on to St. Lawrence University for his bachelor’s degree and then to the Lynch School of Education at Boston College, where he earned a master’s degree in education administration.
The appointment was made after a comprehensive national search over the past six months.
Current Head of School John King will continue to lead Hebron Academy until Marchetti’s arrival.
