WILTON — A final report on the Kineowatha Park Forest Management Plan will be presented at a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Public Safety Building, 874 Main St.
Forester Peter Tracy will present highlights of the plan, which was created with the help of a Project Canopy grant. The plan was completed with the intention of promoting the forest health of the park and recreational opportunities.
An initial public meeting was held in 2014 to hear residents’ views on how the 31-acre forest stand in the park should be managed. Provisions for a healthy woodlot, aesthetics and recreation were raised as high priorities. Some voiced a desire to improve trails. They wanted to keep the area as natural as possible for those walking through the woods.
Tracy expected minimal or light tree-cutting on the property, which borders Wilson Lake. He told residents his work would be a recommendation. It is about what residents of Wilton want to see, he said.
