JAY — Police are investigating four burglaries at two residences where guns, tools and equipment were stolen.

On Sunday, a burglary was reported on East Dixfield Road. A garage attached to a house was entered, Detective Michael Mejia said. The owner, who does not live there, reported a Craftsman 6500 PSI pressure washer, a Ryobi saw and a Craftsman wrench set were stolen.

The owner had previously reported to Sgt. Russell Adams on Oct. 11 that a Millermatic 250X welder and an orange-colored generator were missing, Mejia said.

Evidence was collected at the scene. The home is occupied.

Both incidents are believed to be related, Mejia said. There is a person of interest in the investigation and leads are being followed.

Police are also investigating burglaries at a residence on Franklin Road. On Saturday, a victim reported that two guns were taken on separate days from a gun rack. The victim reported returning home Oct. 23 and noticing one of two guns was missing from the rack. He did not report the incident to police, Mejia said.

On Friday, the victim discovered the second gun was missing from the same gun rack, he said.

Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier responded to the scene. There was no forced entry into the home, Mejia said.

Reported missing were a double-barrel 12-gauge shotgun and a .270 Browning semiautomatic rifle.
