LEWISTON — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice hosted its 12th annual Autumn Night Out Gala and Auction, a fundraiser for the agency’s hospice program on Oct. 23. The evening raised more than $64,000 to help supplement care for hospice patients in need, as well as support the agency’s bereavement and volunteer services.

Autumn Night Out, held at Poland Spring Resort in Poland, sold out this year with 235 people seated in the dining room. Seventeen of the agency’s staff and volunteers gave their time to serve as volunteers at Autumn Night Out, helping to ensure the evening ran as smoothly as possible.

Cyndi Robbins, Chair of the Autumn Night Out Planning Committee said, “Because of the generosity of our sponsors and the hard work of our event planning committee, we are also excited to say that the event is operated well under 50 percent of the sponsorship dollars raised. That means that not only does 100 percent of the funds raised through ticket sales and auction items directly impact patient care, but so does 50 percent of the sponsors’ dollars.”

Autumn Night Out consisted of more than 250 silent and live auction items running the gamut from gift baskets, to art work, home goods, dining gift certificates, family excursions, furniture, get away packages, sporting and entertainment tickets and autographed memorabilia from local, professional sports teams. Guests played the fan-favorite “Heads or Tails” raffle, as well as tried their luck at the Wall of Wine. Members of the Poland Spring Players and actors from the Lewiston Auburn Community Little Theatre presented a live performance entitled “Stories of Hospice,” chronicling the hospice experience many come to know.

The volunteers that make up Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice’s Autumn Night Out Planning Committee are Tammy Chamberland, Lorraine Heikkinen, Cathy MacDonald, Deb Ouellette, Heather Printup, Cyndi Robbins, Lisa Roy and Mark Stasium.

The 13th annual Autumn Night Out Gala and Auction is tentatively planned to be held October of 2016. More information to follow.
